Individual Psychotherapy

I provide one-on-one individual therapy for a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship stress, grief/loss, life transitions, identity development, coping with a family member's mental illness or substance use disorder, and suicide bereavement.  While I primarily work with adults, I will see adolescents on a case-by-case basis. For our work together, I will use approaches such as Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Processing (AEDP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Awareness, and Person-Centered Therapy, depending on the client's needs and emotional tolerance.

Couples and Marriage Therapy

I really enjoy working with couples, at any stage of the relationship.  I provide relationship counseling, pre-marital counseling, marriage therapy, relationship clarification (when a couple is considering divorce), and post-divorce support.  Sessions will primarily be conducted with all parties present, but one-on-one meetings will also occur at various times throughout treatment. I am Certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and will use this approach in our work together.  For more information on EFT, visit the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT): https://iceeft.com/

Family Therapy

I work with families of all configurations and locations throughout North Carolina (via teletherapy). My focus is on relationship stress at any stage of a family's development.  I have significant experience and training in working with families of adolescents; families involved in child welfare, juvenile justice, and mental health public systems; and adult families with eldercare-related issues.

I offer all new clients a free 30 minute live video consultation to discuss their issue(s) and to get to know me and my approach.  This is also a good way to determine if you believe that I would be a "good fit" for you, and if I believe I can be effective in helping you with your goals.

The first session is generally 90 minutes and subsequent sessions are 60 minutes. I will request to meet with you at least weekly for the first four weeks and then, together, we will re-evaluate the frequency from there.  Clients can expect the sessions to be led by me and for the treatment to primarily occur in-session.  Homework is rare and usually only upon request of the client.

If you have a situation that you would like to discuss, contact me for a no-cost initial consultation.

Please Note:  Currently, I am primarily providing teletherapy/online services. In person appointments may be considered on a case by case basis.
